White Sox @ Red Sox Preview (Lineup Is In)

Tim Wakefield was a good chunk of the reason why the Red Sox were so good in the beginning of the season. Tonight we'll see if he can once again spark this starting rotation, which desperately is looking for someone to take the #3 spot. Since Wakefield went on the disabled list July 21, the Red Sox's rotation has gone 11-15 with a 5.28 ERA.

The bad new is that Wake has not fared well against the White Sox in his career going 7-11 with a 5.11 ERA, but don't read into that too much, as he has won 3 of his last 4 starts against them. What will be interesting is seeing how well V-Mart does catching the knuckleball. We have seen it really mess up guys (Tek/Bard), and it is going to be real important for V-Mart to get comfortable with this, since the Sox can't afford to give up another spot on the roster for a catcher.

The Sox will be going against one of the White Sox good young pitchers, Gavin Floyd. Floyd is 2-0 with a 5.74 ERA against the Red Sox. At Fenway Park last year, he allowed one run in 6 2-3 innings of a 4-2 win. He can be unhittable at time, so hopefully the Sox lineup will keep rolling like they have been over the last week or so.

***UPDATE***

Lowell's turn to sit tonight, and as I said before V-Mart will try to catch the Wake. Here is a look at the rest of the lineup...

4. Kevin Youkilis, 3B
5. David Ortiz, DH
6. Jason Bay, LF

8. Casey Kotchman, 1B
9. Alex Gonzalez, SS

Game starts at 7:10pm on NESN.
