Bruins Close To Resigning Savard
"After reports that Marc Savard and the Boston Bruins were talking about an extension every day, it appears a deal might be imminent. It was expected that he'd sign for between $6 and $6.5 million a year, but he may be giving the Bruins a hometown discount and signing for less. An Internet rumor said the deal on the table is a seven-year, $32 million -- about $4.7 million a year. But the Boston Globe says a source close to Savard said that rumor is false, but negotiations are still ongoing. Boston felt Savard might be expendable if David Krejci emerged to become a potential No. 1 center, the Boston Globe writes. But Krejci has not performed, so a Savard extension could be imminent (ESPN)."
Bruins need to get this done. Savard is the most talented froward they have, and after losing Kessel and Kobasew they need to lock up Savard. I hope Savard gives them a hometown discount, so they can resign some of their young guys. We'll keep you posted...
