With the Red Sox trying to retain free agent outfielder Jason Bay, it makes sense that the team would try to keep any injuries quiet, no matter how minor, since that could impact their leverage in negotiations (ESPN)."
The Red Sox can get out of Drew's contract if he has serious shoulder issues. Apparently this is not serious enough (which sucks!!!). It doesn't seems like this will keep him out, as the Globe is saying he will be ready for spring training. I also don't see this affecting the ongoing negotiations with Jason Bay.
