Rays @ Red Sox Preview
This season so far has been painful to watch. I'm literally at the point where I feel the urge to start screaming at the end of every inning. The Red Sox aren't hitting, fielding, pitching, or even being entertaining. It has been awful, and it is no surprise they are off to their worst start in 14 years (1996 they were 2-10).
The good news is Lackey is on the hill, and so far he is the only offseason pickup that is doing anything. Lackey got his first win of the season last time out going 6 2/3 against the Twins letting up just 2 runs. I think Lackey will have another strong outing today, but my main concern is who the fuck is going to hit the ball on the Red Sox?
Ortiz, and J.D. Drew have been flat out awful, but you can't put it just on them, as V-Mart hasn't really been anything great either, and Cameron isn't much better. The Sox are going against Jeff Niemann, who is a very solid pitcher, but one the Sox should have some success against.
Call me a homer, but I see the Sox winning on Marathon Monday, but I still have a lot of serious doubts about this season...
Red Sox win 4-3
Here is a look at the Sox lineup. As if things weren't bad enough Cameron has been scratched from the lineup today, because he is pissing out more marbles...
Scutaro SS
Pedroia 2B
Martinez C
Youkilis 1B
Ortiz DH
Beltre 3B
Drew RF
Hall CF
Hermida LF
Pitching: RHP John Lackey (1-0, 1.42).
Game starts at 11:05am on NESN.
