NFL Is Going To 18 Games
It's pretty much set in stone that the NFL is going to 18 games, and that is really awful to me. I know what is going to happen is that players will be bought out to shut up about the matter, but I'm disgraced with the greed of the NFL. The NFL already screws it's players with non guaranteed contracts and up until a couple years ago long term health measures, and extending the season will only do that more.
Hines Ward had some strong words about the matter: "I'll probably be the last double-digit guy," said Ward, the Steelers' career receptions leader who is in his 13th season. "The 10-year guys you won't see any more, except for your quarterbacks. The running backs, you're really going to see a short lifetime span. The season's just too long [already]."
And he's right. It seems like there is an ACL tear every week, a concussion problem, etc, I don't know why the NFL is taking advantage of these players more. Especially with all this new stuff coming out with long term health damage with concussions. I think this might be the first time that john q. public will actually side with the million dollar athletes over the owners.
I'll watch the NFL because I love the sport, but I'll do it under protest.
