It seems like I always write about the fringe sports on this blog. Hockey, NASCAR, soccer, et cetera.
I'm excited folks. The UEFA European Championship is fast approaching. For those of you who don't follow soccer, it's essentially the World Cup without Brazil and Argentina. The 16 best national teams in Europe play in groups, then play in knockout rounds. This year's tournament is in Austria and Switzerland, and EVERY game will broadcast live be on ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN Classic, and the finals will be on ABC.
Here's ESPN's broadcast schedule
Even if you don't like soccer that much, I suggest finding some reason to root for some team in the competition. Soccer without a rooting interest is like watching dried paint get even dryer. But if you have a team to pull for, it's actually exciting. Believe me, I used to be one of those soccer haters until I started supporting Germany and Arsenal FC.
Speaking of Germany, they'll be winning their 4th European Championship. They're close to home in Switzerland and Austria, and all their major threats are on the opposite side of the bracket. They'll play Italy in the finals and win 2-1.
