The Sox had the day off yesterday, so there are just a couple of quick notes...
- Francona is not happy about the comments that Papelbon made against Manny. Basically he said the same thing I did, which was that they should be focusing on the future, and it makes no sense to talk about that stuff.
"It doesn't make sense to talk about stuff like that. We did what we thought was the right thing for our team (in trading Ramirez) and we'll continue to do that," Francona said. The manager did say he preferred players not to speak out like Papelbon did, but he certainly understands Papelbon who is very opinionated (Boston.com)."
- Oritz and Bay are back with the team. They will not play in today's game, but Francona said they are at the number of at bats he wanted them to be at for this part of spring training.
- Brady Penny will be pitching another bullpen session tomorrow. That should tell us a little bit more about when we could see him on the field again. Josh Bard will be catching him.
- Ellsbury will not play today. it is not because of his hamstring injury, Francona just thought it was stupid to have him sit on a bus for 3 hours when he just got back.
Sox play the Cardinals today. The game started at 1:05pm and is on NESN.
