Lightning @ Bruins Preview

Well it looks like Boston leading goal scorer (Kessel) will be missing his third straight game, as he was not there for the morning skate. The good news is that Coach Julien came out and said they expect to have Kessel back later this week, so hopefully they are just resting him, as they are closing in on locking up the #1 seed.

Tonight Boston takes on the Tampa Bay Lightning. The Bruins hope this week's three-game homestand will continue to bring them out of their lengthy slump. The Bruins broke their slump with two wins over the weekend. Still there are some glaring weaknesses showing from the Bruins. Thomas had to make 45 saves in Sunday night's 4-3 victory at Philadelphia. Boston is going to need to play a lot better defense if they are going to do anything in the playoffs, but at least their offense is waking up and Thomas continues to be hot.

Right now you have to love the play of Recchi, Krecji, and Lucic. I point these three out because they each bring a different way to produce offense. Recchi has been unstoppable on the powerplay. Krecji is making everyone around him better with his passing, and playmaking ability. Lucic is crashing the net, and making the big hits. These guys are a lot of the reason for the Bruins success over the weekend.

Tampa Bay just wants this season to be over. They are near the bottom of the Eastern Conference, and the Bruins should be able to skate all over this team. Hopefully Boston will take care of business, and wrap up the Eastern Conference ASAP.

Game is tonight at 7pm on NESN.
