Former Pro-Bowl CB Signs With Saints

Down two cornerbacks because of injuries, the New Orleans Saints reached an agreement Tuesday with veteran Chris McAlister, according to a source.

Terms of the deal weren't available, but it is believed to be a one-year contract. A week ago Sunday, McAlister was cleared by doctors to play despite knee problems that have been nagging him for years. There were teams that were interested in signing him at the beginning of the season, but McAlister wanted to wait until his knee was completely healthy.ESPN

This makes sense for both sides. McAlister was considered a top CB in the league a few years ago and believe he still has enough in the tank for the rest of the year. Meanwhile the Saints just lost Tracy Porter and their secondary is banged up. So if McAlister can come in and play a role like Ty Law has in Denver, they will be in good shape. Plus, the Saints should always have a player named McAlister on their team.
