According to WEEI the Sox have traded Hunter Jones and Jose Alvarez for Jeremy Hermida. Hermida had a .259/.348/.392 season for the Marlins. He has lefty power and seems likely to be the fourth outfielder, so basically he is taking over for Rocco Baldelli. Hermida is only 25 years old and at time has shown some power potential. I like this deal, as I think he will be much better then Rocco and it gives the Sox a safety net in case a deal is not worked out for Bay (even though that would be a weak left fielder for a team like the Sox ). Hermida should get decent playing time since Drew is always hurt, and the Sox like to give guys like Lowell and Ortiz lots of time off.
