Remember Ryan Sidney

If you remember in the past of Boston College there was an awesome team in the 90's, and on that team you had Troy Bell and Ryan Sidney leading the Eagles to NCAA appearances. This was probably my favorite college team ever, but then in 1999 Ryan Sidney was dismissed from the team and I never really new why. Well I tracked the former Boston College star down to ask him what happened and some other stuff. Here's the convo:

For most BC fans you kind of disappeared, without not knowing why. So,
What happened at Boston College and why did you leave?

I left because I had just had a son. I had some personal things going on. It was just time for both sides to go their separate ways. If not I believe it wouldn't have been as smooth as a release.

how was your relationship with your teammates at your time at Boston College?

I loved my teammates. My best friends were actually students that I went to school with and some others that I made friendships with over the years.

How was it playing beside Troy Bell?

It was cool. He played the way he played and I played the way I played so it worked out great for both of us. I feel and even his mother will tell you. That I made him better. Its just plain and simple.

How was it playing for Al Skinner?

NOT A BETTER COACH in AMERICA. I mean that he is the BEST PERSON you could play for coming from what I knew and had experienced in life to the point and time I played for him.

In general do you think athletes get more advantages at schools?

Yeah sure they do. But they earn that shit. I mean you go and spend 6 hours a day in a gym. Than have to do a interview and sign autographs and go do charity work. There is a lot that you have to do but most of it you just have to be able to have time to do it. With all that work which really isn't that hard is just sometimes impossible. So the best way to get to be in two places at once is a Tutor. LOVED THEM.

When you were playing did you hate Duke as much as the rest of the country?

NO. Never hated them. They were just a bunch of girl scouts with a name. In most situations they were punked and pushed around., Just after a while the refs realized people didn't care about the name so to they had to protect those fruits for the most part.

Do you hold any grudges towards your former school?

NONE I loved BOSTON COLLEGE. Will always was where I got my start and without that START I wouldn't have all the things I have now.

He was a pretty cool dude and want to thank him for partaking in this. It wasn't the Boston College bashing that I wished, but it's pretty straight forward. He did say this about BC kids though: Yeah a lot of the kids I went to school with had a "SILVER SPOON" for so long that they didn't know no better. Cant blame children for the faults of their parents. Most of them fall on their faces when they get out of that Heaven called BC.

Pretty funny. Anyways, I thought this was good way to kick off the basketball season.
