Phillies Talking To Pedro Martinez Again
The Philadelphia Phillies have talked to Pedro Martinez and his agent about a possible comeback similar to last year, when the right-hander was a starting pitcher for the National League champions in August and into the postseason.
"We have talked to his agent, but there's nothing so far," Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. said. "We are not negotiating, but we've been talking to him. It all depends on whether he wants to play or not (ESPN)."
Phillies could use a 5th starter, and in the NL Pedro is better then most of the other guys out there. I think Pedro would get crushed if he ever went to the AL, but in the NL he is still a guy who can give you 5-6 innings of very solid baseball.
I really hope he comes back, because I actually don't mind the Phillies at all. They are probably my favorite NL team, and I will always stop and watch a game that Pedro is pitching in.
Reports say that Pedro is already working out, and that he does intend on pitching the 2nd half of this year, so I expect to hear a lot more about this over the next couple of weeks.
