Carmelo really went out on a limb last night and proclaimed the Knicks aren't a contender for the 2011 title. Hold the press. Listen, we Knick fans weren't fooled into thinking this was the year a title comes to MSG. In the NBA more than any other sport, teammates need to learn to play together. There have been flashes of greatness with Stat & Melo, but most of out big victories have been a cause of the other team blowing as much as the Knicks winning it (see Heat game last month). Tonight they take on the Celtics at MSG and I'm sure it will be rocking. Earlier this year I was at the game where the Knicks took the Celts to the wire and lost on a Paul Pierce jumper. It was heartbreaking no doubt, but it was nice to actually feel something again for the Knicks. Even if it was heartbreak. Tonight the Knicks may hang in there and play well. Hell, they may even snake one out with the way the Celts have been playing. But by NO means will anybody in the stands be fooled into thinking this team is built for 2011. And apparently, neither does anyone on the court.
