Patriots Hire Floyd Reese

"The Patriots announced that they have hired veteran NFL personnel man Floyd Reese as a senior football advisor today. Reese, who has been working as an analyst for ESPN, was formerly the general manager of the Tennessee Titans (Boston Globe)."

The more I read about this guy the more I like him. Reese is one of the main reasons the Titans were so good this year...

"In his 13 seasons as the general manager, Reese's Titans teams won 111 games. Sixteen of the 22 starters on this year's final 2008 Titans roster were originally acquired while Reese was general manager, including nine of 11 starters on defense. Six of his acquisitions are heading to the Pro Bowl -- QB Kerry Collins, CB Cortland Finnegan, DT Albert Haynesworth, S Chris Hope, C Kevin Mawae and T Michael Roos (ESPN)."

That is damn impressive. The Patriots really lost one of the best in the NFL at evaluating talent when Pioli left for Kansas City, but at least they seem like they have found a good replacement. The Patriots have lost so much personnel that I had become almost numb to the fact that they could actually go out and find some talent to replace Pioli, ect. It is a small step, but I like that fact that they are not just relying on their home grown help, and making the effort to go out and bring in guys who know how to build a team, because lets be honest, their defense is to need to be rebuilt (especially at CB and LB).
