BMack's Top 10 AL Prospects

Well a lot of our writers and I have a fantasy draft coming up next week. It is AL only 8 keeper league, that also has an 8 round minor league draft. I probably should do this, but here are my top 10 AL prospects...

1. David Price (P) TB - Duh, the guy is a stud and the next Pedro. He may actually be better, because his frame seems like he will be able to hold up better against arm injuries.

2. Matt Wieters (C) Bal - He is going to open the year in the minors, but he won't be there for long. The guy has 40 HR potential and plays catcher, which is the weakest fantasy position in the AL. Even if he is half as good as the scouts are saying he will be a top 5 catcher in the AL.

3. Neftali Feliz (P) Tex - Another kid with a great arm. Can throw consistently in the high 90's. May be a year away, but I think he will be up by mid season.

4. Matt LaPorta (OF) Cle - He might open the season in the minors, but Cleveland will not let him sit down there long. He has a lot of power potential, if he somehow can make the Indians team he could be a threat to his 30 HRs.

5. Brett Anderson (P) Oak - Oakland has 3-4 nasty pitchers coming up over the next 2-3 years. Anderson I think is the top of the class, but you could really flip a coin between him and Cahill. He is only 21 years old and is a lefty, that's why I put him 1st.

6. Trevor Cahill (P) Oak - Has been the top pitcher in the A's system for a couple years now. Is the same age as Anderson, and may make the A's before his counterpart.

7. Travis Snider (OF) Tor - A lot of people are going crazy over this guy. I think he will be very good, but I don't see him as a top 5 prospect. Other then Price, he is one of the only guys that will have a spot in the majors when the season opens.

8. Chris Tillman (P) Bal - He throws about 100 MPH. He could open the year in the MLB, but I think it would be smart to give him a little more time to develop. The Orioles aren't going anywhere, so there is no need to rush talent like this.

9. Rick Porcello (P) Det - If the Tigers have taught us anything is that they are not afraid to throw a guy into the fire. Some people rate him a lot higher on their lists, but I think that he is going to be brought up too fast. He is only 20 years old.

10. Lars Anderson (1B) Bos - Won't have a spot on the team this year, but I think he will be starting in 2010. Has a ton of upside, and his power keeps improving. Could be the guy who takes over for Big Papi if he goes down.
