Key Additions:
Bartolo Colon
Wilson Betimet
Key Losses:
Ken Griffey Jr
Joe Crede
Juan Uribe
Nick Swisher
Line-up
1. Jerry Owens CF
2. A.J. Pierzynski C
3. Carlos Quentin LF
4. Jim Thome DH
5. Jermaine Dye RF
6. Paul Konerko 1B
7. Alexei Ramirez SS
8. Josh Fields 3B
9. Chris Getz 2B
This line-up has a lot of questions involved. There are a lot of young guys who are unproven who need to step up. Their core of Quentin, Thome, Dye and Konerko can all hit for power but are extremely streaky. If Quentin can come back from his self inflicted injury this team should be ok. A fun guy to watch is youngster Alexei Ramirez, he is my boy and he can be the key to this offense. If he can gain momentum from his breakout year, last year this offense will be fine.
Rotation:
1. Mark Buehrle LH
2. Gavin Floyd RH
3. John Danks LH
4. Bartolo Colon RH
5. Clayton Richard LH
Closer Bobby Jenks RH
This rotation is a wildcard, because they have the potential to be great or they hav the potential to be terrible. Floyd and Danks had good years last year, but can they keep it up? Buehrle tends to have really good years, and mediocre years. If Buehrle can have a solid year that would be so helpful to this team because no one knows what they are going to get from Colon or Clayton.
Prospects:
Dayan Viciendo, 3B: He is referred to as the greatest prospect ever. The young Cuban is going to be the man after learning how to play short.
Aaron Poreda, 22 LHP: He is a potential front-line starting pitcher who was going to be a factor down the stretch, but the White Sox felt going over 160 innings was enough in his first full pro season. He will compete for a rotation spot in spring training and should win one with his heat consistently in the mid-90s.
Overall:
I love this team this year. Ozzie Guillen is the man and they have the potential to be the best team in the AL Central. If their offense can gain some consistency and their pitching staff can be effective they should make the playoffs easily.
97-65
