Good news coming from the Bruins today...
"Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli said on Boston sports radio station WEEI this morning that he expected Bruins defenseman Aaron Ward, who was punched in the face by Carolina forward Scott Walker in Sunday's Game 5, to play in tonight's pivotal Game 6. "I expect him to play," Chiarelli said. "There was evidence of some type on incident on his orbital bone, it may have been an old fracture. He definitely had a contusion, but he'll be able to play tonight (Boston.com)."
Thank god. It was such a sucker punch, and I am still in shock that they are not suspending Walker. Whatever, he'll get his tonight, but there has been an on going battle of words between the Bruins and Hurricanes GMs.
Carolina GM Jim Rutherford said...
"We are satisfied with the league's ruling. After our team received several punches throughout the series leading up to Game 5, it was a matter of time before one was going to be thrown back."
Obviously this is what he would say, but I like that Boston's GM Peter Chiarelli fired back...
"The punches that were delivered by both sides over the course of a series? That's part of the series -- the scrums and face-washing," Chiarelli said. "You saw that in the Montreal series. That happens. To compare this punch to all those punches is uncalled for. To me, there's no comparison."
Basically watch your fucking back Walker, because Lucic is going to rip your head off. This series could get real ugly real quick. We'll have more on tonight's matchup later today...
