Red Sox @ Twins Preview

Sox look to win their seventh straight over over the Twins tonight. They will try to do this against Nick Blackburn. The Sox counter with Jon Lester, who looked a lot better then he has for the most part this season. Boston is going to need Lester to be the guy he was last year if they want any chance of making a playoff run.

Boston has many players on hot streak (Tek, Bay, Lowell, Ellsbury), but is still waiting for some stars to come around (Beckett, Dice-K, Lester, Ortiz). Tonight the Sox will play without Lowell, and are going to try moving Ortiz lower in the lineup, so he can figure out what is wrong with himself, while no disturbing guys like Bay and Youk. Will it work...probably not, but this is their best option right now.

Boston loves to hit against RHP, so I expect a lot of runs tonight (even with Ortiz not doing anything, and Lowell out). The Twins are not a great hitting team (even with Mauer, and Morneau), so there is a good chance Lester will be able to continue to improve on a tough start to the season.

Game is at 8:10 on NESN.
