Smoltz First Rehab Outing
"In his first rehab start since extended spring training, John Smoltz tossed three innings of shutout ball for Single-A Greenville in an 8-3 loss to the Augusta GreenJackets last night. Smoltz threw 29 pitches, surrendered one hit, struck out two, and didn't allow a walk (Boston.com)."
Great news for the Sox, and it sounds like he didn't feel any discomfort. It is very impressive to be able to come out and pitch for the first time this year and have the control that he did. Smoltz's next is scheduled start is Tuesday at Double-A Portland. He syas that he looks to continue to work on his command, and that his velocity will go up as the intensity of his starts also rises.
