Barca Upsets Man U in UEFA Final
This game was reminiscent of the Pats/Giants Super Bowl. Nobody gave the Giants a shot. Then they just came out and executed. That is exactly what Barcelona did today.
Coming into the match, Man U looked unstoppable. They were healthier, had an easier run getting to the final and just flat out had more talented players all over the field. None of this made any difference for Barca. They took the lead in the 10' and put it away with an amazing Messi header somewhere around the 70'
Messi solidified his place at the top of the football world, without question he is the pound for pound king. Amazingly he has yet to turn 22 years old. It seems like he's been playing Spanish League ball forever and I guess he has. Barca found him at age 13 and he's been under their control ever since. He won a gold in this summer's Olympics with Argentina and now has his first Champions League Cup with many more to come.
As for MUFC, they showed exactly why it is impossible to repeat as cup winners. There is a reason it hasn't been done in decades. Their star player also showed why he is so universally disliked. Ronaldo played well early but lost his composure quick. He resorted to cheap shots late in the game and didn't miss an opportunity to piss and moan over perceived missed calls.
