Red Sox 2 Blue Jays 1
The Wake bounced back nicely last night and pitched a gem. Wakefield went 8 innings allowing 1 run on 5 hits with 3 Ks. Who would have thought that at this point of the season Wakefield would be by far our best pitcher? Sure he didn't get a lot of strikeouts, but he forced pop out after pop out, and gave the Sox bullpen some much needed rest.
So the Wake was the good news the bad news is once again the Sox are having a hard time hitting the ball. Ortiz was in the 3rd spot once again and went 0-3 (striking out twice) with a walk. At least the Sox get Youk back tomorrow, and hopefully that will push Francona to move Ortiz down the lineup a bit.
Boston scored both their runs in the 2nd inning, as Lowell scored on an RBI single by Bay, and Kottaras hit a sac fly to score J.D. Drew. That was it for the Sox offense that really needs to figure out a way to hit lefties.
With the win the Sox are only 2 1/2 games back of the Jays for first place in the AL East.
