"Missing two games with a strained hamstring was good on Jason Bay of the Red Sox, until he re-injured the hamstring. While Boston lost to the Rays on Wednesday, Bay returned to the lineup and homered in the 2nd inning off David Price. It was his 21st of the year and was a solo shot. Bay finished 1 for 4 and is batting .252 on the year. However, he later hurt the hamstring again running out a grounder in the 8th inning and will miss at least the first two games of Boston's upcoming series against the Yankees. "It doesn't feel real bad," Bay said after the Red Sox lost 6-4 to Tampa Bay. "Anytime you can't play, you feel like you let your teammates down." The Red Sox begin a four-game series at Yankee Stadium on Thursday night. He will be reevaluated earlier in the day and doesn't think the injury is a long-term situation (Sportsline)."
Great, so the Sox have Smoltz on the hill tonight against the Yankees, who they are already 2 1/2 games behind, and now they will be playing at least 2 games (most likely more) without Jason Bay. There seems to be a dark cloud over the Red Sox lately, and they really need to get healthy (i.e. Dice-K, Wake, Bay).
