The Red Sox go for 3 straight over the Tigers, and they have their ace on the hill on the hill tonight to help make it happen. Beckett will take the field tonight with a 13-4 record with a 3.12 ERA. Beckett has been unreal lately and has thrown 14 consecutive scoreless innings over his last two starts.
The Tigers answer with Armando Galarraga, who is having a tough year with a record of 6-10 and an ERA of 5.23. The Tigers are 0-5 against the Sox this year, and this looks to be another tough matchup tonight.
Boston is going to need to keep the bats going tonight, since they have finally been looking like a real lineup again. Bay has 2 HRs in the last 2 games, and Lowell went off yesterday with 2 HRs (which the Sox will need when Youk is suspended). Lowell has been awesome when he plays batting .368 with 3 HRs and 16 RBIs in 17 games since his July 17 activation from the DL.
***UPDATE***
Victor Martinez is out of the lineup for the first time since he was TRADED to the Sox. Jason Bay is batting in the No. 3 spot for the first time since May 17. Here is a look of the rest of the lineup...
1. Jacoby Ellsbury, CF
2. Dustin Pedroia, 2B
3. Jason Bay, LF
4. Kevin Youkilis, 1B
5. David Ortiz, DH
6. Mike Lowell, 3B
7. J.D. Drew, RF
8. Jason Varitek, C
9. Nick Green, SS
Game starts at 7:10 on NESN.
