"Figuring out exactly when to activate right-hander Tim Wakefield [stats] off the disabled list remained atop the Red Sox [team stats]’ to-do list as they flew to Toronto last night. Reports on the knuckleballer’s start for Triple-A Pawtucket at Gwinnett (Ga.) on Saturday night were good from a pitching standpoint. He allowed two earned runs and three hits in 3 innings (Boston Herald)."
Sounds like all good news, until you read that he had a noticeable limp, and Francona is not sure that he can field his position. When you are in a division that has a lot of speed (especially the Rays) that has to be something that you would worry about. I want to see Wake back ASAP, but there are just so many questions. Who is going to catch him? Is he healthy? Or are they just rushing him back because they are in panic mode? I don't know, but I'll be honest when I say I don't have a good feeling about Wake's health, and if he is still limping I don't see that as being something that magically disappears by Thursday...
