College Football Picks

Rough weekend for me a few days ago. I picked the wrong upset, and that always hurt. Nevertheless, still very glad that I was wrong about USC winning, and was wrong about BC losing. I was 1-4 last weekend, lowering me to 20-19. Here are this Saturday's picks:

12:00 PM - ESPN
Northwestern Wildcats @ #4 Iowa Hawkeyes
I pick Iowa to lose every week, and they miraculously pull a victory out of their asses. So this week I'm jinxing them. I think they'll destroy Northwestern, leading from wire-to-wire, and playing a complete 60 minute game of solid football that a coach can be proud of.

Iowa 126, Northwestern 0

2:30 PM - NBC
Navy Midshipmen @ #22 Notre Dame Fighting Irish
Notre Dame made the same deal with the devil that Iowa did. I only have a hopeful feeling that 6-3 Navy will beat 6-2 Notre Dame (5-1 in South Bend) and crush any and all Irish dreams of a BCS Bowl.

Navy 17, Notre Dame 13

3:30 PM - ABC
#16 Ohio State Buckeyes @ #11 Penn State Nittany Lions
There are some really big BCS conference games on Saturday, and this is one of them. Although Iowa controls their destiny, and OSU's lost twice, the Buckeyes can still make the Rose Bowl. But I think Penn State's proven to be a Top 10 team this year, while Ohio State has proven to be a 10-20 kind of team.

Penn State 31, Ohio State 21

3:30 PM - CBS
#9 LSU Tigers @ #3 Alabama Crimson Tide
Florida's clinched the SEC East, but the West is still up for grabs. Bama can clinch with a win. I think LSU is an amazing team, but Bama is too stifling, and plays in close games so well, I can't pick against them, especially with the game in Tuscaloosa.

Bama 13, LSU 10

7:45 PM - ESPN
Florida State Seminoles @ Clemson Tigers
Clemson can make their first ACC title game if they just win their next 3 games. FSU has had a weird season, and I'd say they're the best 4-4 team in the country. Which doesn't mean much to anyone but me, I suppose. Anyway, I think the Noles win one in upstate SC.

FSU 27, Clemson 14

8:00 PM - ABC
#24 Oklahoma Sooners @ Nebraska Cornhuskers
OU's playing for a Cotton Bowl berth, and is without a doubt the best 5-3 team in the country. A lot was expected of Nebraska this year, and they've been extremely disappointing. The Sooners take another step toward Dallas with a win up North.

OU 38, Nebraska 17
