Red Sox vs Rays Preview
The Tampa Bay Rays are cruising and are off to their best start in franchise history (6-3) while the Red Sox have looked nothing good this year at 4-5. At least we have my least favorite pitcher Josh Beckett on the mound against youngster Wade Davis. The Rays just shellacked the Orioles with strong bats from Carlos Pena and BJ Upton. Pena was 6 for 13 with two homers and seven RBIs in the series and Upton 5 for 13 with two homers and five RBIs. However in Boston, Pena is 3 for 20 with 10 strikeouts while Upton went 3 for 17 to drop his career average at Fenway to .190 in 25 games. So fuck em.
The Red Sox hitting is the concern tonight as it will for the rest of the season. Jacoby Ellsbury is out for some stupid Indian reason and Mike Cameron is peeing marbles. Fortunately Jeremy Hermedia has been a godsend when he has played. Scutaro has been doing such a good job at the lead off that I expect him to remain their even when that stupid Indian comes back to the squad.
I expect Beckett to outpitch Wade Davis, due to being young and Davis made his first career road start at Fenway on Sept. 12 and surrendered a career-high eight runs over 2 2/3 innings in a 9-1 loss.
Line Up:
1. Scutaro, M, SS
2. Drew, J, RF
3. Pedroia, D, 2B
4. Youkilis, K, 1B
5. Ortiz, D, DH
6. Beltre, A, 3B
7. Hermida, J, LF
8. Varitek, J, C
9. Hall, B, CF
V Mart has the day off and I like drew at the 2. Maybe that will get him hitting again.
Sox 7-2
