2010 Record: 69-93
Lineup:
1 Grady Sizemore OF
2 Asdrubal Cabrera SS
3 Shin-Soo Choo OF
4 Travis Hafner DH
5 Carlos Santana C
6 Matt LaPorta 1B
7 Orlando Cabrera 2B
8 Jason Donald 3B
9 Michael Brantley OF
This is the ultimate "IF" lineup. IF Sizemore can comeback, be healthy, and play like he did when he was a rookie. IF Carlos Santana can bounce back from that awful knee injury last year. IF Hafner can give them anything. IF Brantley/Laporta can turn into half the players people thought they would be coming up. What I am saying is that this lineup is one HUGE question mark. Maybe if everything worked out then they could be a real good lineup, but when the only guy we know for sure is good is Shin-Soo Choo you know you're in trouble.
Rotation:
1 Fausto Carmona
2 Justin Masterson
3 Mitch Talbot
4 Carlos Carrasco
5 Josh Tomlin/David Huff
CL: Chris Perez
Awful, just awful. Carmona is decent, and seems to be getting back to being the pitcher he was a couple years ago, but he is not a #1, and Masterson is not a #2. In my opinion Masterson is still a better bullpen option then anything. He is progressing, but he is very inconsistent, and is never going to be an ace for this year. The Indians do have some young talent coming up (Alex White, Drew Pomeranz) but they won't help this team very much this year. All and all this is going to be a rotation with a lot of guys with double digit losses and ERAs around 5.00.
Overall:
The Indians will be better then they were last year, but not by much. Like I said, their lineup could be decent IF everything works out, but that is asking a lot and this team needs their young guys to come through over the next couple years, and bring in some talent to ever become relevant again, because let's be honest Rick Vaughn is not walking through that door.
