"Magic coach Stan Van Gundy, in defending suspended center Dwight Howard, on Monday criticized the NBA and David Stern, saying the commissioner doesn't "tolerate other people's opinion or free speech or anything." Stern fired back Thursday, saying he would talk to the team's owners about the coach's comments and that he does not expect Van Gundy to criticize him again. "I have a feeling that some modicum of self-restraint will cause Stan and the team for which he works to rein in his aberrant behavior," Stern said.
Added Stern: "It didn't bother me personally. I see somebody whose team isn't performing, whose star player was suspended, who seems to be fraying. ... Whatever the pressures are that Stan is feeling, that he fell to whatever position he's in to say something like this, it made me sad (WEEI)."
Where the hell you get off saying something like this David Stern? You are fining a coach that took a shot at you, and you respond by going on the radio and commenting about his team's performance? That's not right. If there was any justice Stern should be fined for his comments. What right does he have to take shots like this?
This whole fining for comments has got completely out of control, and Ron Jeremy, sorry I mean Stan Van Gundy is 100% correct. It is a complete dictatorship now, and if you don't like what he is doing then you have two options, shut up and take it, or say something and get fined crazy amounts of money.
I get that you can't have everyone blasting the commissioner all the time, but you can't even question policies, or rules. To me, that's just wrong. If there is no debate how does a sport grow?

You're an elitist punk that is so insecure that you have to fine everyone that isn't in line with you. When what you should be doing is focusing on fixing your sport, which has recently had problems with refs fixing games. Along with that you have a stupid technical rule in which you get suspended after 16 technicals. This was fine during days when you actually had to earn one, but now if you even look at a ref the wrong way you get a technical. Why don't you define what a technical really is before you start suspending people? No, I guess you're too busy reading coaches comments to do that.
Or maybe you should take some time and explain why it is ok for a team that is owned by the NBA (Hornets) to go over the salary cap, and spend owners money from teams that know how to run their franchises. No, I guess I guess your too bust making sure players aren't wearing their "white ts".
Why don't you take some time and fix your playoff structure that has teams well below .500 making the playoffs? You know so that the regular season actually means something to good teams. But no, it's probably smarter to make sure the 14th largest market (Seattle) loses their team.
Listen Mr Stern, you have some of the best talent the NBA has ever seen, and while your sport is growing it could be so much better if you had a commissioner who wasn't such a dink. Grow up, and focus on making your sport #1, because honestly as good as the NBA is doing it should be doing even better when you have some of the greatest players to ever play the game with some of the best teams ever created.
