Well I guess there wont be a new #1 team come this Monday, as UNC spoiled Duke senior night for the 3rd straight
year and won in Duke 76-68, to claim the ACC regular season championship and probable #1 overall seed in the NCAA tournament. Why is this important? Well they would be sent to Raleigh, North Carolina for the 1st 2 rounds, and then Charlotte, North Carolina for the next 2 rounds, thus leaving the possibility of all home games for UNC in Carolina until the final four. The lame post by the Duke A$$ kisser (was he the guy in the speedo under the Carolina basket making thrusting motions towards his groin? Please someone needs to investigate this!) somehow thought not having Ty Lawson (who if he comes out to the NBA this year is a top 10 pick) didn't matter in the UNC loss earlier this season, yeah ummm ok take a top 10 player in the NBA draft off any team and see what it does to a team, that sure makes sense. Yet let me get this straight, Duke won by 11 points in the 1st game, went 13-29 for 3 pointers, and Wayne Ellington and Danny Green went a combined 4-24 in the 1st game? I liked UNC's chances for revenge......
It turns out Danny Green thought so too as he went 6-8 for 14 pts in the 1st half as UNC took a 41-32 halftime lead. Supposed best Duke player Jamarcus Nelson went 0-5 for zero points in his last game at Duke. Sure would be reassuring to see my supposed best player rise to the occasion on such a big night. The player who kept Duke in it at all was Greg Paulus, who went 4-6 from 3 point land for 12 points. The 31 points Duke scored in the 1st half was a season low, and committed 10 turnovers. Somehow no one mentioned why he had 2 black eyes, I would love to hear the real story on this one. Yet, one knew Duke would make a run in the 2nd half, it wasn't Duke-UNC for nothing.Of course Duke came out like gangbusters, and finally was able to take their 1st lead of the game 68-66 since 3-0 with about 5 minutes left. Cameron was rocking, and Dickie V was in a total orgasm, (he is the worst Duke homer ever, like the lame poster earlier today) his shirt was soaking wet, he ranted about how ex Duke player Christian Laettner and Jason Williams were very, very, special college players, and reminisced about the time Steve "Wojo" (now an assistant Duke coach) sucked him off after a game in the mid 90s. Yet I digress, back to the game.
I guess there was another reason why Dickie V's shirt was soaked, it was over 90 degrees in Cameron, and Duke had expelled a lot of energy in making a comeback. Screw that I am being too nice, Duke just totally choked the rest of the way, failing to score a single point as UNC outscored them 10-0 in the final 5 minutes while Duke missed their final 11 shots of the game. Danny Green was the star of the game as he threw down 18 points, grabbed 8 rebounds, and most amazingly blocked 7 Duke shots. Probable player of the year Tyler Hansbrough put up a line of 16 points and 15 rebounds, while amazingly enough not once going to the free throw line but was constantly being hammered by Duke players. Of course Coach K practically cried about a late non call on his player, and was seen being passed tissues (were they dirty?) by Dickie V. Ugh I hate Coach K, I hate everything about Duke, and Speedo boy just reinforced it all. Look if you root for Duke you are the guy who roots for the house in blackjack. It is good to see UNC win again (they swept the series last year) and good prevail. Now I only hope they can meet again in the ACC Tourney so I can see Coach K cry again. Or read about another preview of the game by the Duke fan, which was one of the funnier things I have read in awhile.
