The first official USA Today Coach's Poll just came out. Here it is:
1. Georgia
2. Southern Cal
3. Ohio State
4. Oklahoma
5. Florida
6. LSU
7. Missouri
8. West Virginia
9. Clemson
10. Texas
11. Auburn
12. Wisconsin
13. Kansas
14. Texas Tech
15. Virginia Tech
16. Arizona State
17. Brigham Young
18. Tennessee
19. Illinois
20. Oregon
21. South Florida
22. Penn State
23. Wake Forest
24. Michigan
25. Fresno State
The SEC has 3 teams in the top 6, and 4 in the top 11. The Big XII has 3 teams in the top 10, and 5 in the top 15. BYU and Fresno State are the only non-BCS teams in the Top 25. Boston College would have been 31st if the poll went that far down.
I hate the fact that there's a preseason poll. How can somebody rank teams without ever seeing them play? And the preseason poll matters. If Georgia, USC, and Ohio State all go undefeated; it will be Georgia and USC going to the title game simply because they started off as 1 and 2.
