The Tigers have been hurting for starting pitching so today they took a risk and signed Freddy Garcia. Garcia has not pitched since early 2007, but the Tigers hope that he can go down to the minors (with Willis) and maybe make some starts in the big leagues by the end of the year. The Tigers are basically out of the playoff picture, so if he can show them something he could be in the rotation next year. Garcia used to be a very good pitcher, before he fell apart and needed shoulder surgery. I forgot about him, and it will be interesting to see if he can work his way back.
