23 Steelers, 14 Ravens

For those people who thought this was going to be an extremely hard hitting, rough, low scoring game. Guess what? You were right.

In one of the most physical games that has ever played the Pittsburgh Steelers were able to beat the Baltimore Ravens for the third time this year to advance to the Superbowl.

This game was defined by defense and it was controlled by defense, but the big difference between both teams was the quarterback play. One quarterback made mistakes, and the other didn't. Quarterback Joe Flacco may have had his worst game all season as he went 13/30 for 140 yards and 3 interceptions and rarely had time in the pocket or enough time to make a comfortable throw, while Pittsburgh's Ben Roethlisberger threw for 16/33 for 255 yards and 1 TD. Ben would have had a second touchdown easily if not for Limas Sweed dropping a wide open pass late in the second quarter. Ben was sacked four times in the game but his ability to scramble and break tackles was very affective as he was able to hit Santonio Holmes on a broken play earlier on in the game. It also was pretty obvious that the Steelers offense was not the same once Hines Ward was hurt and unable to play for the rest of the game.

The only reason why the Ravens were able to put up 14 points were do to the Pittsburgh's special teams. If it was not for a near run back by Leonard and a muffed punt by Mitch Berger the Ravens probably would have put up zero points on the board. However, in the 4th quarter after Berger's muffed punt and a pass interference call on Ike Taylor, the Ravens Willis McGahee was able to punch it into the endzone for his second score of the game making the score 14-16. After that, the Steelers offense was haulted by the Ravens defense and had to punt the ball. On that possession with 4 and a half minutes left the game change happened when Troy Polamalu had a interception and ran it back for forty yards to ice the game.

After that the Ravens went into Panic mode and tried to put the ball in the air to win the game. Flacco hit McGahee over the middle and then this happened:

The Steelers one and are facing the Arizona Cardinals in the Superbowl.

P.S. To the writer for DC that bashed the Steelers yesterday, "Tell me how my ass tastes?"
