Red Sox @ Angels Preview

The Angles have had to deal with so many injuries to their starting rotation that some people started to think they were not going to be able to pull it together this year. Well tonight they start to get some guys back as Ervin Santana makes his first start of the year, since being out with a sprained elbow. Last year Santana was 16-7 with a 3.49 ERA. it will be interesting to see how long it takes him to get back in his "groove".

The Sox will have Penny on the hill. Penny has had a very up and down season. His record is good (3-1), but his ERA is horrible 6.90. He says that he feels stronger and more comfortable against AL hitters everyday. Last time out Penny had his longest outing of the year going 6 1/3 innings against Tampa Bay allowing three runs and eight hits in a 7-3 victory. Hopefully he can build on that.

I would like to see the Sox make life hard for Santana by getting Ellsbury on base. I know DP doesn't want to hear it or accept it, but Jacoby is quietly having a great year. He is batting .295 and is on pace to steal 78 bases. I would like to see is OBS come up a little more, but while he is riding this 9 game hitting streak it is hard to complain.

Game starts at 3:35pm on NESN.
