Stanley Cup Roundup: Day 28

The Capitals saw their season end last night, in less than dramatic fashion. And for the second straight year, the Penguins have advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals, awaiting the winner of tonight's Bruins/Hurricanes game.

PITTSBURGH PENGUINS 6, WASHINGTON CAPITALS 2
***Pittsburgh wins series 4-3***
Simeon Varlamov finally came down to Earth, yielding a pair of goals in 8 seconds in the 1st. Two more early on in the 2nd chased Varlamov, and the game was effectively over. Jose Theodore entertained us all, allowing 2 more goals. Sidney Crosby scored 2 goals, and had an assist. But it was the entire Pittsburgh team that scored. 5 different players had goals, 10 had points. A possible challenger for the Norris Trophy (which rightfully belongs to Zdeno Chara) - Mike Green - was -3.

The Capitals are gone, and it's very possible that the NHL's final four will have none of the top 4 teams from the regular season (San Jose is already out, Boston and Detroit need to win).

Thursday night's games:
7:00 PM - Ducks @ Red Wings (Series tied 3-3) - Vs.
8:00 PM - Hurricanes @ Bruins (Series tied 3-3) - NESN
