Thoughts On Ellsbury

The Good:

Overall I think there is a lot of good that has come with Jacoby's play this year. In the beginning of the season there were a lot of worries if he could play every day, and still be affective. Well right now he is hitting .300, and is currently on a 13 game hitting streak. He is also on pace to steal 70 bases this year, and hasn't made an error in any of the 205 games he has played in the outfield.

The Bad:

He is still not hitting lefties well, and his OBPs leaves something to be desired. If you can't hit lefties at all it is going to be hard to start him everyday, but so far he has been able to work through this.

Overall:

I think people (DP) need to give the guy some props for coming out and playing good baseball. He has been just as good as Coco in the OF, and is hitting better then he really ever did. If he can get his batting average against lefties up to around .230 this guy could be batting .315 by the end of the season. He needs to be a little more patient at the plate and draw more walks to get that OBP up, but lets not forget we are talking about a kid who is only 25 years old. So he "peak" might now happen for another year or two. Overall I am very happy with his play....
