Vinatieri Has Surgery

"Kicker Adam Vinatieri recently had surgery on his right hip to alleviate a nagging injury, but the Indianapolis Colts anticipate he will be ready for the season, the team announced Friday."The condition, which had existed for more than a year, became more bothersome recently," the team said in a statement. "After consultation with our doctors and others, the surgical procedure was deemed the most effective course of action at this time." Dr. Marc Phillipon, who recently operated on New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez, performed Vinatieri's surgery in Vail, Colo (ESPN)."

Ok, this is like the 3rd surgery I have heard by an NFL player that was from a preexisting injury dating back to last season. Can some explain why the Colts medical staff didn't jump on this earlier? Do players do this so they don't have to go to camp? I just don't get it...Anyways, it seems like he will be fine for the start of the season, and even should be ready for the preseason games. The Colts have 2 punters on their roster in case Vinatieri can't make a preseason game they will be able to fill it (according to the Colts).
