Red Sox @ Nationals Preview

The Sox have figured out how to win on the road, and that is not good news for a Nationals team that is already dealing with playing a far more talented team then themselves. Boston will put Jon Lester on the hill tonight against Craig Stammen.

Before Lester's bad start against the Marlins he was 2-0 with a 1.23 ERA in his previous three starts, striking out 34 in 22 innings while limiting opponents to a .099 average. He will look to get back to that tonight against the Nationals. I don't seem him having any trouble doing that, since his tough start against the Marlins could have had more to do with his lack up warmup time rather then pitching poorly. Lester actually has played against the Nationals before when he gave up a run and three hits over six innings striking out 10 in a 9-3 win.

The Nationals are going to need to put some runs on the board if they are going to give Stammen any chance tonight. The Nationals scored at least five runs for 10 straight games from May 10-19, but they've scored five once in their last 14. They are also only batting .220 with runners in scoring position.

Boston will put Ortiz back on the field after getting last night off against the left hander. Lowell will sit tonight. Here is a look at the rest of the lineup for the Sox....

1. Dustin Pedroia, 2B
2. J.D. Drew, RF
3. Kevin Youkilis, 3B
4. Jason Bay, LF
5. David Ortiz, DH
6. Jason Varitek, C
7. Jacoby Ellsbury, CF
8. Nick Green, SS
9. Jon Lester, LHP

Game starts at 7:05 on NESN.
