There have been a couple rumors going around about Rondo. As I wrote earlier there are also rumors that Rondo is a bad clubhouse guy, and that the Celtics are not confident that they can resign him. Here is what Ainge had to say about all of this...
"I'm not sure why his is popping up, but we love Rajon. It doesn't seem like you have to have any source any more (to report rumors)."
"I've heard speculation we're dissatisfied with him; we're gonna trade him because he was late for a playoff game? That's not true (Celticsblog)."
I do not know what to make of all these Rondo rumors. Obviously Ainge would not come out and blast Rondo, and I really hope they are not true. There are two ways I think about this. One is that Rondo is being blasted by the media and fans (outside of Boston), because he was labeled a dirty player, and the fans of the teams the Celtics played in the playoffs hated him. Thus they are making up all of this, because of their hatred.
The other way I am thinking about this is that the Celtics really don't think they can bring him back, and that he has an ego that is looking for something near a max contract. If that is the case the Celtics will not be able to resign him, so maybe these rumors are true and they are trying to get something for him, before he walks for free.
Anyways, Ainge basically came out and said this draft sucks, and he doesn't want to move up...
"Most of the players in the first round I wouldn't trade for J.R. Giddens or Bill Walker... (Celticsblog)"
He also says that there that "the free agent mid-level talent pool is fairly deep, but based on our needs it may not be that deep."
So it will be interesting to see what the Celtics will do in the coming weeks, but this will most likely be a very boring draft for the Celtics.
