Celtics Try To Trade Rondo To Pistons?
"Unidentified league sources told Yahoo Sports's Adrian Wojnarowski that the Celtics offered Ray Allen and Rajon Rondo to the Pistons in exchange for a package that would include Richard Hamilton, Tayshaun Prince, and Rodney Stuckey. The sources said the Pistons immediately rejected the potential trade (Boston.com)."
The Pistons had no interest in this deal, but for Celtics fans this is kind of an eye opener. There have been a lot of rumors about the Celtics trying to move Ray Allen, but now we are hearing more and more rumors about Rondo. There is a growing concern that Rondo might be a bad clubhouse guy. Don't get me wrong I like Rondo, but it seems like he is starting to be talked about like how Orlando Cabrera was talked about with the Sox. Apparently there have been rumors that Rondo has a big ego and rubs a lot of guys in the Celitcs organization the wrong way. The guys over at Celticsblog did a whole story about it, and it is an interesting read (CLICK HERE to read article). Anyways for now the Celtics have not been able to pull off anything, and I don't think I want them to, but this is something every Celtics fan should keep an eye on.
DP's Take:
According to Yahoo! Sports, the Boston Celtics offered Ray Allen and Rajon Rondo to to the Detroit Pistons for a package that included Richard Hamilton, Tayshaun Prince and Rodney Stuckey, but the Pistons declined the deal over the weekend.
Yahoo! Sports also reports the Celtics won't sign Allen to an extension and they are unsure about giving a long-term contract to Rondo.
I think this is all because of that stupid trade Machine on ESPN. But the salaries of Allen, KG and Pierce make it really hard for them to sign players. No one is really sure what type of contract Rondo is going to demand, but obviously by the way he played last year, and in the play-offs it will not be small. It won't be max money, but it might be like Chris Paul's first contract extension(4 year, 68 million) which will be incredibly tough for the Celtics to pull off this offseason, when they have Big Baby, Leon, and are obviously going to need to resign a back up PG and SG. Either way, I will be devastated if Rondo gets traded.
