Brandon Webb To Have Season Ending Surgery
"After trying a conservative approach to rehabilitating his sore pitching shoulder, Arizona Diamondbacks ace Brandon Webb will now opt for season-ending surgery. "We support his decision to have surgery," Diamondbacks executive vice president and general manager Josh Byrnes said. "Obviously, we exhausted every other course of treatment." Dr. Keith Meister of the Rangers will perform surgery on Webb's right shoulder on Monday in Arlington, Texas (ESPN)."
Webb is one of my favorite pitchers in the MLB. He is just a flat out workhorse, but you just never know how guys are going to comeback after a surgery like this. On one hand he has pitched more than 200 innings every season from 2004-2008 and won 56 games between 2006 and 2008, but on the other hand the Diamondbacks have a team option on Webb for 2010 at $8.5 million but can buy out the deal for $2 million. They are really going to need to track is progress closely to see if he is worth the investment. My guess is that they keep him...
