Billy Walker Injury
Swingman Bill Walker left practice Wednesday and is headed for Boston to get an MRI on his surgically repaired right knee. Walker tore his left ACL while at Kansas State and then hurt the right knee in a workout with the Golden State Warriors in July 2008 and then had surgery a few weeks later.
Walker, who played 29 games last season with the Celtics and also spent time in the NBDL, likely won't play a significant role early in the season. It is uncertain when Walker will return to training camp. Boston.com
This sucks because I love Bill Walker and think he could be an excellent late game defender, and one of those "try hard" players. I don't know how this happened, but I'll make sure I get that to you asap. I hope he's alright.
Jays @ Red Sox Preview
The Sox are in the playoffs, so obviously these games mean shit. Except this could be the last time we see Tim Wakefield on the mound. His back has been fucked up for most of the season, and there is no guarantee he'll be on the playoff roster.
Wake will look to help the Sox avoid their longest losing streak of the season. It will not be east though as the Jays have been playing well and have their ace Roy Halladay on the hill.
Wakefield is an impress 11-4 this year with a 4.33 ERA (ERA obviously far less impressive). The good news for the Wake is that he is 7-0 at home, but his biggest concern should be to find a way to get Adam Lind out, who torched the Sox for 3 HRs last night.
Halladay has had another impressive year. He hasn't been as good since the trade rumors have died down, but is still one of the best pitchers in the game. Boston is going to need jump on this guy early as he has the ability to pitch a complete game almost every time out. The Toronto ace is 13-14 with a 4.43 ERA against Boston (the only AL opponent against which he has a losing record).
Game starts at 7:10pm on NESN.

Pulp Fiction Writer Gets A Year In Jail
"An Oscar-winning screenwriter of "Pulp Fiction" has been sentenced to a year in jail for causing a fatal traffic crash in Southern California. Roger Avary was sentenced Tuesday in a Ventura court. He also received five years of probation. Avary pleaded guilty in August to gross vehicular manslaughter and drunken driving for the 2008 crash that killed a passenger in Avary's Mercedes in Ventura County. Authorities say Avary's car was traveling at more than 100 mph when it crashed into a telephone pole. Avary's wife was ejected from the vehicle and was treated for non-life-threatening injuries (Fandango)."
If this was you or me we would be in jail for no less then 15 year. This is just like the Stallworth case, but worse since this dude was going 100 MPH with his wife in the car!!!! Anyways, Pulp Fiction is one of my favorite movies of all time. Maybe that's why he got off so easy....

Krejci Ready For Bruins Opener Tomorrow
"David Krejci is all but certain to take his usual slot on the No. 2 line tomorrow when the puck drops on 2009-10.
"Right now, things are looking good," said Claude Julien. "I think he's feeling good. He's feeling better and feeling more confident. The official decision will come tomorrow, but right now, it's looking good (Boston.com)."
Great news for the Bruins, as Krejci is all healed up and ready to go. I think he can really build on what he did last year, and has the talent to be a premiere player in this league. I am so excited for the Bruins, and look for Rob's Bruins preview post tomorrow.

Indians Going To Chase Farrell
Before all of you fucks start thinking of something clever to write about his contract, eat a dick. Last year, we let John Farrell take the opportunity to coach when he went to interview for the Pirates job and I think they will let Farrell go if he has a real chance to further his career. The Indians got rid of Eric Wedge today and everyone and their mother knows that they are going to push hard for the Red Sox pitching coach. If it was up to me, I would say fine, peace, see ya to him. He has done nothing useful this season when it comes to our pitchers, ask John Smoltz, Brad Penny, etc. I will be thrilled if he's gone next year, so we can actually get a real pitching coach.

Sam Bradford Update
Oklahoma Sooners quarterback Sam Bradford has been increasing his activity in practice, but a decision on whether he will start Saturday at Miami has yet to be made, coach Bob Stoops said Wednesday.
"He has picked up his number of throws, the distance and his velocity each day," Stoops said. "He's been better every day.ESPN
Sam Bradford is going to be the key to the Miami vs Oklahoma game this weekend. Both teams are highly overrated and shouldn't be even be in the talks in a National Championship. But I like the Sooners if Bradford plays, but if he doesn't I'm all Hurricanes. Also, I'm sick of analysts blaming the weather for Miami's loss to VaTech. There are a lot of hard showers in my Miami, so kiss the baby all you fucks.

Today I only get hunat eighty? Why it change?"
The banker shrugged his shoulders and said, "Fluctuations."
The Asian lady says, "Fluc you white people too!"
Empire State Building Goes Red For Communist China
"New York is seeing red over the decision to turn the city's highest beacon — and one of America's symbols for free enterprise — into a shining monument honoring China's communist revolution Wednesday night. The Empire State Building is set to be illuminated in red and yellow lights to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the bloody communist takeover (FoxNews)."
Here at Dueling Couches we do not discuss politics, but WTF IS THIS!!!!! This country hates communism. Why the fuck are we celebrating an authoritarian communist regime?????? It makes no fucking sense to me, and for some reason really pisses me off....

Felix Jones Out For Week 4
"Cowboys RB Felix Jones will miss Week 4 at Denver with a sprained PCL, reports ESPN. Head coach Wade Phillips said Tuesday that there is not a timetable for his return, but the report stats Jones might miss Week 5 as well so that he'll have three weeks of rest heading into Week 7 (the Cowboys have a bye in Week 6). Phillips did say Tuesday that RB Marion Barber is getting better but wouldn't commit to him playing against the Broncos. Jones rushed for 94 yards on eight carries and caught one pass for 20 yards against the Panthers in Week 3 before leaving in the third quarter (Sportsline)."
There is no word yet if Barber will be able to play, but if you need a running back in fantasy football pickup Tashard Choice. He could be the Cowboys' every down running back, which makes him a potential fantasy stud vs Denver. I like Felix Jones a lot, but he just can't say on the field, and I just don't see how he could ever be a primary back. He wasn't one in college and so far hasn't showed he can do it in the NFL.

Limas Sweed To Be Deactivated
Steelers receiver Limas Sweed may have dropped his way onto the bench.
Pittsburgh coach Mike Tomlin said Tuesday he may deactivate Sweed, the team's second-round pick last year, for Sunday night's game against the San Diego Chargers (2-1).
"Absolutely," Tomlin said at his weekly news conference when asked if he was considering benching Sweed in favor of veteran Shaun McDonald. ESPN
Good, this guy needs to be benched or even cut. He has been nothing but a drops machine and all in all terrible. I was thrilled when the Steelers got Sweed but he has done nothing but make me cringe when I see him out there. He dropped a giant pass last week that essentially doomed the Steelers to those mighty Bengals. I hate him, and he is dead to me.
Indians Fire Eric Wedge
"The Cleveland Indians fired manager Eric Wedge in the final days of a terrible season. Wedge guided the Indians to one playoff appearance in seven seasons, and this year the club fell out of contention early and is currently one game out of last place in the AL Central. The Indians, who are 64-92, have scheduled a Wednesday afternoon news conference at Progressive Field to announce Wedge's dismissal. Cleveland recently lost 11 straight games and have dropped 20 of its last 25 games. Wedge will finish out the season as manager (Sportsline)."
We all knew this coming. The Indians have been one of the most disappointing teams this year. Sure they had some injuries, but still they should be better then they are. I don't see it getting better for the Indians for a couple of season, since Carmona is terrible, and the young pitching we have seen from them hasn't impressed me. So good luck to whoever gets this job...

Nick Adenhart Drunk Jersey Controversy
People are outraged at the fact that when the Angels won the division they poured beer on deceased Nick Adenhart's jersey. He died in a drunk driving accident (he was not the one drunk) and people think it's in bad taste. Well this is the reason why I hate people. Chill the fuck out, they won, and I'm sure in the back of the Angels mind was the death of Nick Adenhart so they pretended to celebrate with his memories. I see nothing wrong with that, and if you do. Fuck off.
The Brady Quinn Era Is Over
"Derek Anderson will start at quarterback for the Cleveland Browns on Sunday against Cincinnati. Coach Eric Mangini has decided to go with Anderson, a Pro Bowler in 2007, over Brady Quinn, who opened the season as Cleveland's starter but was benched at halftime last Sunday in Baltimore. Mangini believes the Browns have a better chance to move the ball with Anderson. "I'm excited about the opportunity," Anderson said. "We're all competitors, we all want to play. I'm ready to go (Sportsline)."
The Browns had to give Quinn a shot, but he did nothing to make them think he is the future. Saying that, it is not completely his fault. This team is terrible. Their WRs suck (yes that includes Edwards), their offensive line is nothing special, and their running is ranked 30th in the NFL. There is only so much you can do with that, but he needed to do more then he did, so Anderson now will get the keys to this horrible offense.

Johnson Won't Sign An Extension With Hawks
"The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports All-Star guard Joe Johnson has decided he won't sign an extension with the Hawks and instead will be a free agent July 1. He has already turned down a four-year, $60-plus million contract offer this summer (ESPN)."
I like Joe Johnson a lot, and I will be very interested to see where he goes after this year. With so many big name free agents it could be hard for him to get top dollar, then again I think a lot of the guys that are supposed to be free agents will end up signing extensions (Lebron). Johnson is one hell of a player, and if the C's get some cap space I would love to see him back in green...

Rashard Mendenhall To Start
It looks like Willie Parker is out with turf toe and having a mildly successful game, so terrible runningback Rashard Mendenhall is taking the field. It really upsets me that Mendenhall is bad. After the Mendenhall/ Sweed draft I was pumped and now it looks like both should be cut. The Steelers are going to be in trouble if they don't get some sort of consistent running game.

Jays 8 Red Sox 7 (Sox Clinch Wild Card)
Certainly not the way the Sox wanted to get into the playoffs, but in the end I guess it doesn't matter. What does matter is this shaky start from Buchholz. This was supposed to be his final warmup for the playoffs. He had been so dominant over the last two months, but last night he was rocked for 7 runs over 5 innings.
There are basically going to be two ways to view this. On one hand Buchhoolz had been so good that he was due for a bad start, and he will be fine for the playoffs. On the other hand could this be a sign that he is regressing again when the spotlight is on him? Is he tired from all the innings he has pitched this year? Can the Sox trust him?
I don't have the answer to those questions. I want to believe that he is going to come up big, and be that #3 guy for the Sox, but if Dice-K can go out there and have another solid outing it is going to be tough decision for Terry Francona.
There is not a lot to talk about in this game. The Jays hit 6 HRs, 3 of them were courtesy of my man Adam Lind, who has been the lone bright spot for the Jays this year. The Sox were down 8-2, but got it within a run. In the 9th the Sox had men in scoring position with Youk up. He struck out looking and the game was over. All was not lost though as the Angels once again beat the Rangers to secure the Sox spot as the AL Wild Card.

Jays @ Red Sox Preview
With Texas losing 11-0 last night to the Angels all the Sox have to do is win a single game and they are in the playoffs. Tonight, they turn to one of their most reliable pitchers over the past 2 months, Clay Buccholz. Clay enters this game with a 10 2/3 innings scoreless streak, and over his past 8 starts has an ERA of 2.44. You can't ask for more out of your 3rd starter.
Facing him tonight will be Ricky Romero, who started the year hot has cooled off of late going 1-4 with a 5.71 ERA in his last 6 starts. He has played against the Sox 4 times and has gone 0-3 with a 8.83 ERA. Everything on paper looks like the Sox should clinch tonight, but as the guys from The K-Line says "baseball is a funny game".
We will have lineups up later today when they are announced.
Game starts at 7:10pm on NESN.

Dolphins Trade For QB Tyler Thigpen
"The Miami Dolphins made it official: Chad Pennington is out for the season. Pennington was placed on the reserve-injured list to create a roster spot for quarterback Tyler Thigpen, acquired Tuesday from the Kansas City Chiefs for an undisclosed draft pick. Pennington likely face a third operation on his right shoulder since 2005. He was hurt in a loss Sunday at San Diego that left Miami at 0-3. Thigpen shores up depth behind second-year pro Chad Henne, who is expected to make his first NFL start Sunday against Buffalo. Rookie Pat White is the Dolphins' other quarterback. Thigpen, a third-year pro, started 11 games for the woeful Chiefs last year and threw for 2,608 yards with 18 touchdowns and 12 interceptions (Sportsline)."
Great move by the Dolphins. Most likely they are only giving up a 6th or 7th round draft pick. Let me tell you this kid Thigpen is the real deal. He is better then Pennington and Henne. It will obviously take a couple weeks to get him up to speed, but I would not be surprised in the least if this guy is the starting QB by the end of the season and maybe even going into next season.

Jonathan Wilhite Hurt Running From Attackers
"New England Patriots cornerback Jonathan Wilhite, who was a last-minute scratch for Sunday’s game, told police he pulled his groin hours before kickoff while running from two men who approached him outside his home, police said today. North Attleboro police responded to a Cumberland Farms near Wilhite’s home after the Pats player ran into the convenience store and asked a clerk to call authorities, cops said in a statement. Wilhite, 25, told police “two subjects” approached him in his parking lot when he arrived home. Police did not give an exact time of the incident. Wilhite said one person “approached him on foot and yelled at him,” the police statement said.
“Mr. Wilhite became concerned and ran to Cumberland Farms where he asked the clerk to call police,” the statement said. “He did mention that he had pulled his groin while he was running (Boston Herald).”
I was wondering why he wasn't on the field. I figured he pulled his groin during practice, but instead it was cause by some North Attleboro scum. It sounds like he is fine, and will be able to play next week, but this is a very bazaar story.

Marc Savard To Toronto?
Don't worry Bruins fans, not until after this season...
"Marc Savard will be highly sought after next offseason when his contract is up, and Toronto might be one team that swoops in to grab him, the Boston Globe writes. The Bruins may not have the cap room to sign Savard next offseason, especially if they choose to extend some of their other free agents. So Toronto may try to reunited Savard with Phil Kessel. But Savard has said he likes it in Boston, so we'll have to see how this one plays out (ESPN)."
Way too early to talk about this, but it could happen. I am actually not that big of a Savard fan. I respect what he does, and he puts up points year in and year out, but he is kind of soft. Not sure what will be available next offseason, but this will obviously be one of the main storylines.

Tony Allen Still Hurt
Wow, he is usually so healthy....
After surgery on his right ankle and leg in June, Tony Allen was expected to recover in time for training camp, but Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge said he was unsure how much the oft-injured guard would be able to contribute.
"It's just not coming along as quickly as we wanted," Ainge told The Boston Globe. "So I think we'll just take it week by week. He probably won't do much this first week. And then we'll evaluate it next week (ESPN)."
God I fucking hate Tony Allen. He is the worst player on the Celtics. He brings nothing to the team. They say he can be a "shut down defender", but every time I see this no talent ass clown on the court he either fouls someone or gets beat. Fuck him, cut him. He is never going to stay healthy and is just a big cock tease to all Celtics' fans.

Leon Powe Injury Update
Had to at least check in on our old friend...
Forward Leon Powe says his rehabilitation from knee surgery is ahead of schedule, which is a relief to him.
"I'm just happy I got the first five months out of the way," he told the Akron Beacon-Journal. "I told my doctor I want to be back around the All-Star break. He said I would be back a little bit before, but we didn't put a definite date on it. We're just taking it month by month (ESPN)."
Sounds like everything is progressing well. I hated seeing him go, though I am not sold that he is going to be as affective. He has had so many serious injuries. I feel bad for him, but it is going to feel even worse seeing him in a Cavaliers uniform.

Halladay To Be Traded In Offseason?
"According to manager Cito Gaston, Halladay's future in Toronto could depend on what GM J.P. Ricciardi does to improve the team in the offseason.
"If we don't add anybody this winter, or go get somebody that can help, I doubt we keep him," manager Cito Gaston told the Toronto Sun. "That's my opinion. I don't know that. Would it make any sense to keep him? Probably not (ESPN)."
They Jays are rebuilding, and moving Halladay could really help jump start that. Toronto has some young talent (Romero, Lind, ect), but they need a lot more if they are ever going to be a threat in the tough AL East. I said it before at the trade deadline that I thought it was a mistake to keep this guy, especially when hearing some of the over the top offers they Jays were getting. Anyways, look for him to be moved before next years trade deadline, but I would be shocked if it is to a AL East team.

Dwight Freeney Out 2-3 Weeks
"Doctors are expecting Indianapolis Colts defensive end Dwight Freeney to miss two to three weeks with a strained quadriceps, a league source said Tuesday morning (ESPN)."
This is a big loss for the Colts, but with Manning playing so well I think their offense will be able to carry them through their next two games (Titans/Seattle). Expect Freeney back in 2 week. He is known for not staying off the field long, and healing quickly. So, overall I don't think this will hurt the Colts season.

Jon Lester Injury Update
"Jon Lester is in the bullpen right now throwing a side session and, from our perch in the Fenway press box, he is looking pretty good. He doesn't appear to have any issues landing on his right plant leg, which got dinged pretty hard on the quad by a comebacker to the mound in his last start last Friday night against the Yankees in New York. Lester walked through the locker room a little bit before 4 p.m., and confirmed that it was a positive session.
"Everything felt fine," Lester said. "Everything was good (Boston.com)."
It was a real scary moment for any Sox fan when Lester was hit with a comebacker a couple of nights ago. Well Sox fans you can breathe easy as it seems it was just a bruise and he will be just fine for the playoffs, but what about his next start?
Francona didn't seem to believe Lester would miss his next start. ``I don't see that getting interrupted,'' he said.
So good news all around.

College GameDay Coming to BC
For the second time, ESPN's famous Saturday morning college football pregame show will grace Chestnut Hill with its presence. The show will broadcast from the Campus Green from 10 AM to noon, before BC's game against Florida State.
As a BC fan, and as someone who works at BC football games, I'm pretty exited about this. Exited, yet confused and surprised. #7 USC is playing #24 Cal in Berkeley. That's a big game. #4 LSU is at #18 Georgia, that's an even bigger game. #8 Oklahoma is at #17 Miami. That's a monstrous game.
Neither Boston College or Florida State are ranked.
But maybe this has something to do with BC football's anti-cancer campaign. I can't think of another reason to choose Chestnut Hill over Berkeley, Athens, or Miami.

Lester Hudson Signs
The Boston Herald reports rookie Lester Hudson, who has worked out patiently all summer without a contract, walked onto the floor Monday with a new one-year deal in hand. Hudson appears to be the last guard on the roster.
"I was very anxious about it," he said. "But it's a great feeling. I got to work out with all of the guys on this team." ESPN
For some reason, I have an ungodly amount of faith in the young guard. It could be that he is a lights out shooter, or that he was a 4th year player coming out of the draft or that he has an awesome name. Anyways, he will most likely spend a lot of the year for the Celtics D League team, but I think he can eventually break through this year.
I Like Anna Kournikova's Breasts Too
Josh Beckett Update
The Boston Herald reports that the injury could sideline Beckett through the weekend. Manager Terry Francona stopped short of saying Beckett would make his scheduled start Saturday against the Indians. That means Beckett's next appearance would be in a Division Series next week. ESPN
I think this whole thing is just an excuse to get Beckett some much needed rest. BMack told me he has pitched more innings than he ever has in his career, so it definitely couldn't hurt for him to get a couple more days rest. He is a premier pitcher, and steps up in playoff situations and I feel safe when he's on the mound. Basically, he's fine everyone..... Chill.
Rondo For 10 More Years
Ainge said he has had preliminary talks with Rajon Rondo about a contract extension. The C’s have until Oct. 31 to extend Rondo’s contact, or he’ll become a restricted free agent next summer. Ainge said the plan is for Rondo to be the team’s point guard for the next 10 years, but said he won’t be commenting further on the state of the negotiations. Globe
I like the sound of this. If Rajon was our point guard for 10 more years then we would probably have at least 8 more championships. Rajon already is the third best point guard in the league and is only 23. He proved to be perfect for the system he is in, and when he needs to be a premier player(like when KG went down) he will. I doubt he will average what he did in the play-offs but it wouldn't surprise me to see every category of his jump a few points.
So Tom Cable Was Punchy
Oakland Raiders assistant coach Randy Hanson told investigators that he was struck by head coach Tom Cable and suffered a broken jaw, his lawyer told NFL Network on Monday.
A few weeks after the Aug. 5 incident, Cable said "nothing happened."
"When all the facts come out, everything will be fine," he said.
Hanson's lawyer, John McGuinn, disputed that, calling the skirmish a "textbook case of felony assault," according to NFL Network.ESPN
Well the Raiders are a terrible franchise and this couldn't surprise me in the least. Tom Cable was obviously frustrated at something and decided to make Randy Hanson a punching bag. But what do you expect when all Al Davis does is hire or sign terrible people. This stuff happens.
Jays 11 Red Sox 5
Josh Beckett was scratched from the start last night with a stiff back, caused by the plane ride back from New York. Michael Bowden took his spot, God he was awful letting up 7 runs over 3 innings of work. The Sox were actually lucky that this game was rained out in the 7th, so they could keep the important guys in the bullpen off the field.
I wouldn't read into this loss too much. I know it is 4 in a row, and they aren't playing great, but think of things that have gone wrong. Lester gets hit in the leg on a comebacker, Beckett's back stiffens up and he can't start, these are just strange things that happen during a season.
The question now is will Beckett pitch again before the playoffs starts. My thinking is that he won't. He has pitched more innings this season then he has ever before. I expect the Sox to rest him until the playoffs with some bullpen sessions and simulated games sprinkled in.
The one positive out of this game was that Boston showed some power. Youk had 2 HRs and Ortiz knocked out another one. These guys are starting to roll, and you add that to the way Bay has played over the past two months and this lineup looks playoff ready.

Oh Happy Day: The End Of Hyphens
"People are not confident about using hyphens anymore, they're not really sure what they are for…Printed writing is very much design-led these days in adverts and Web sites, and people feel that hyphens mess up the look of a nice bit of typography. The hyphen is seen as messy looking and old-fashioned." CEO of Oxford English Dictionary more
This is terrific. That eliminates about 16,000 words for me to misspell. I like the evolution of the English language. Hopefully one day, I will have only seven words to worry about.
Vince Wilfork Injury Update (UPDATED)
"After injuring his ankle on Sunday, New England Patriots defensive tackle Vince Wilfork was forced from the game in the second quarter and didn't return. According to what teammate Mike Wright told the Boston Globe, Wilfork sounded like he was in good spirits, but was a bit frustrated at missing the final two quarters.
"He's very disappointed I'm sure. Anyone would be. He's a fighter, and he'll be back (ESPN)."
As usual the Patriots will gives us very little to go on. The good news is that the Patriots defense actually looked good without him. Still, the Patriots could really use Wilfork against the running game of the Ravens which has been clicking so far this season. We will keep you posted as the practice reports are released, but once again it is so hard to know who is going to play or not for the Patriots.

Jays @ Red Sox Preview (UPDATED)
The Sox could clinch the playoffs tonight IF they beat the Jays AND the Angels beat the Rangers. There seems to be a good chance since Boston is 11-4 against the Blue Jays this season. Tonight Beckett will take the hill against Scott Richmond.
Beckett has not been good against the Jays with 12.98 ERA in his last 4 matchups including a 10.45 ERA in 2 matchups this season. The Red Sox, though, won both of those outings and have taken 6 in a row overall versus Toronto.
Richmond was a nice surprise for the Jays (and my fantasy team) early in the season, but was never the same when he came back from the DL. He has given up at least 5 runs in 5 of his last 6 games, and that could be very dangerous as the Sox are very explosive at Fenway.
Game starts at 7:10 on NESN.

The Red Sox have made a surprising last-minute pitching change, with Michael Bowden getting the start in place of Josh Beckett tonight against the Blue Jays. The Globe's Tony Massarotti reports that the cause is mild back spasms. Francona is going to talk to the media soon, so we will have more info hopefully then....
And here is a look at the lineup tonight:
1. Jacoby Ellsbury, CF
2. Dustin Pedroia, 2B
3. Victor Martinez, C
4. Kevin Youkilis, 3B
5. David Ortiz, DH
6. Jason Bay, LF
7. J.D. Drew, RF
8. Casey Kotchman, 1B
9. Alex Gonzalez, SS

More Like Chad Penningdone....
Miami Dolphins quarterback Chad Pennington has been initially diagnosed with a torn capsule in his throwing shoulder and the Dolphins expect him to miss the rest of the season, sources familiar with the injury he suffered Sunday told ESPN Senior NFL Analyst Chris Mortensen.
Pennington will seek a second opinion from orthopedic specialist Dr. James Andrews, who has performed two shoulder surgeries on the quarterback. ESPN
This obviously sucks for the Dolphins, but I think it is terrific from a football fans standpoint. We get to see more tomfoolery from the Dolphin's wildcat formation, and Pat White. That will make things way more interesting. The Dolphins are the most prepared for this type of injury due to their play calling, so I don't think it will affect their season too much. However, Chad Henne didn't impress me at all when he entered the game.
Leftwich Loses Job To Josh Johnson
"The winless Tampa Bay Buccaneers have benched starting quarterback Byron Leftwich and replaced him with second-year pro Josh Johnson. Coach Raheem Morris made the move Monday, a day after the Bucs fell to 0-3 while gaining just 86 yards total offense in a 24-0 loss to the New York Giants. Leftwich completed 7 of 16 passes for 22 yards and one interception. Johnson played one fourth-quarter series, completing 4 of 10 passes for 36 yards and leading a drive that stalled on downs at New York's 5-yard line. He also finished as Tampa Bay's leading rusher, scrambling for a 15-yard gain on his only attempt (ESPN)."
Leftwich is all done. This was his last shot to show that he is a starting QB. My only question is why turn to Josh Johnson instead of Josh Freeman. In my eyes they should let him learn on the fly, but it seems the Bucs are going to break Freeman in slowly. Still, I expect to see him at some point this season.
