"Talks between Marc Savard's agent and the Boston Bruins are now going on every day as the two sides try to hammer out a deal to keep Savard in Boston, ESPN.com's Scott Burnside and Pierre LeBrun reports. With the frequency of these meetings, a deal might be struck soon. But if it isn't, it might mean the sides have reached a stalemate and won't negotiate until it gets closer to July 1, when he becomes a free agent.
Boston felt Savard might be expendable if David Krejci emerged to become a potential No. 1 center, the Boston Globe writes. But Krejci has not performed, so a Savard extension could be imminent. Savard has also been rumored to be headed to Toronto for some time, but with the lack of offense in Boston, it looks like the Bruins will do all they can to bring him back (ESPN)."
I was in favor of trading Savard earlier in the season when I thought they could bring Kessel back, and maybe get another defenseman in return. Now with all the deals they have made the Bruins can't afford to lose any offense, so they really need to bring this guy back. Hopefully he will be healthy soon, because the Bruins could use a spark on offense.
