Offense:
Mark Sanchez has not looked good at all this preseason, and he is the key to this entire team. Basically, if he is average to above average this could be on of the best teams in the NFL. Yet, I really question if he can do even that. The Jets lost Thomas Jones and Leon Washington in the offseason. Jones was very underrated for them last year and it will be interesting to see if Greene can carry the load for a full season. He certainly showed us something during the end of last season with 144 yards and two touchdowns in a win at Oakland and then added two more 100-yard games in the playoffs, but to do it for an entire year is a lot tougher (think Maroney). The Jets brought in LT and he should help with 3rd downs and the red zone. Say what you want about his declining skills, but the guy still knows how to put the ball in the endzone. The Jets have a good deep receiving core, especially when Santonio Holmes comes back week 5 from suspension. The question is whether or not Sanchez can get them the ball. The good news is they have a very good offensive line, so Sanchez will get every opportunity to succeed.
Defense:
One of (if not) the best defense in the league. Kris Jenkins is a beast up the middle, Ropati Pitoitua (6'8", 310) is just huge, and Taylor and Ellis should give the Jets the pass rush they need. Their linebackers are good, but old. All three starters are above 30 years old. Losing Calvin Pace for 4-6 weeks after foot surgery is going to hurt, but between the very angry Bart Scott, David Harris, Bryan Thomas and Jason Taylor they should be able get bye. The difference maker is their CBs. Revis is back, and we all know how good he is, plus they signed Antonio Cromartie who might not be a #1 CB, but is one hell of a #2, especially if he can back to his 2007 form.
Overall:
A lot of big names. A lot of ego. If Mark Sanchez is the real deal then this team might win 13 games. I don't think he is ready yet, but they are still a playoff team.
