Give It Up for the Twins

You have to respect the Twins. Last night, they clinched the AL Central. Now they spent $97.6 million this season, so it's not like they're a small market team. But that's still 11th in the Majors. It's still $65 million less than the Red Sox, and nearly $110 million less than the Yankees'.

The Twins have been consistently good for most of the decade. They draft well, they develop well, they get good role players. They've lost great players to big market teams, yet they still do well. They get guys like Jim Thome to contribute 25 homeruns.

They're probably not going to win a World Series with Carl Pavano leading the way. Then again, what team out there is markedly superior?

I'm rooting for the Twins in the playoffs.
