He sucked until last year and was due 10 million dollars this upcoming year. Hawk was drafted fifth overall in 2006 out of Ohio State, had 111 tackles in 2010 after finishing with less than 90 tackles in each of the previous two seasons.
My gut tells me is that they we re sign him to keep their linebacking core together. But if they happened to miss out on him and he was overpaid by some other franchise, he will be easily replaceable. Nothing the defending champs should lose sleep over.
***UPDATE***
"A.J. Hawk's agent says he and the Packers are close to a deal that will bring the linebacker back to Green Bay one day after the team released him (ESPN)."
For the right price this is good news considering he led the team in tackles last year.
***UPDATE 2***
The Packers have resigned A.J. Hawk to a 5 year deal. There is no word on how much he will be getting from the Packers.
