I know this movie has been out for awhile, but I finally got the chance to see it this weekend. There was so much hype around this movie I really felt like I was going to be let down, but let me tell you right now, this movie is everything that is right in film making.
The movie is an independent film about an an 18 year-old orphan from the slums of Mumbai, who's life is basically shit. The story goes back and forth from his time on "Who Wants to be a Millionaire", and his life growing up. While on the show, he is arrested on suspicion of cheating. He is brought to a police station where he is questioned on how he knew each answer. The story moves to different points in his life to show how he may have known the answer. I don't want to give away too much of the story, and I don't feel like I am doing it justice, so if you want to read more...CLICK HERE.
Anyways, do yourself a favor and go see Slumdog Millionaire. It is up for many awards such as four Golden Globe Awards for Best Motion Picture - Drama, Best Director - Motion Picture (Danny Boyle), Best Screenplay (Simon Beaufoy) and Best Original Score (A. R. Rahman), and five Broadcast Film Critics Association Awards.
5 out of 5 stars from me...
