Brad Penny threw in his first "game" today. He pitched to minor leaguers, and went 2 innings allowing one hit (a home run out to right to the first batter) one walk, and struck out one. He threw 33 pitches, 20 for strikes. He said he felt fine after pitching, which is a great sign, but he is still really behind compared to the other pitchers. Most pitchers at this point are doing double the work (4 innings), so I still don't seem him being able to pitch week 1. If that is true the Sox will have to decide between Buchholz and Masterson for a start or two. My guess is Buccholz with the way he has been pitching, and since I think the Sox really like Masterson coming out of the bullpen.
