Brady Penny's First Start

Brady Penny's biggest problem yesterday...he was too good.

The Red Sox wanted Penny to pitch between 40-50 pitches over three innings. Penny only needed 33 (22 were strikes). He went 3 innings allowing no hits, no runs, 1 walk, with 3 K's. Penny's velocity was right on target, which is about 93-95 MPH, and he had good movement on his pitches. He said he felt no signs of the arm fatigue he had been feeling before. Penny still has a long way to go, as he needs to catchup with the rest of the team, and stretch himself to 6 innings before the regular season starts, but this was the first step and he looked amazing. Right now the average starter for the Red Sox throws 75 pitchers per start, so Penny has some work to do, but I don't see him missing anymore then 1 start to open the season.
