Bruins Make A Trade

The Bruins struck a deal with the Ducks. Boston is sending Petteri Nokelainen to the Ducks for Steve Montador. Nokelainen was a solid player, but the Bruins really didn't need him that much, and you can always use more defensive depth for the playoffs.

Steve Montador is 29 years old, and is decent "puck mover" at the point. Boston was looking to add a guy that could help facilitate their breakouts, and this guy will help out a little bit. So far this year he had 4 goals and 16 assists. He hits hard, and will give the Bruins some flexibility at the bottom of their defensive depth chart.

"He's willing to stick his neck out for the team, bring emotion, and get involved, even if he knows he's going to take some hard knocks," Ference said. "Total character. And very versatile. We talk about [Matt Hunwick] being able to play D and forward. Monty's been doing that for the last few years as well. Very effectively, too (Boston.com)."

NHL trade deadline is today at 3pm. I will keep you updated on any major moves.
