Daily Red Sox Spring Training Update

Red Sox 15 Pirates 14

- Wild game yesterday, and it took 10 innings to decide it. Lester started the game and went 2 1/3 innings throwing 57 pitches allowing 4 runs (1 ER) on 4 hits with 2 Ks. Lester was primarily working on his changeup so don't read into his stat line too much.

- No one (other than Okajima) pitched well in this game. Saito had his first rough outing walking 2, and letting up a run in his inning of work, and Delcarmen got hit hard letting up 2 runs.

- Josh Bard had a hell of a game going 2-3 with a HR and 3 RBIs.

- Brad Wilkerson also had a big day adding a grand slam as the Sox out slugged the Pirates.

Other Notes:

- Lowell will play in his first game today, and will be the DH and batting 5th behind Baldelli.

- If there was an MVP for spring training it would have to go to Nick Green who is batting .478. Too bad there is no spot for him, as Lowrie and Lugo are in his way. He is also 30 years old.

- Lester came out and said that his deal is not final, but all the sources I have read say it will be completed by Friday (at the latest).

Sox play Baltimore at 1:05pm today on NESN.
